We are extremely proud to present the new lineup of Japan-made Custom Snares by SAKAE OSAKA HERITAGE.

 

These new Made in Japan Snares embody the culmination of the knowledge, scrutiny, and experimentation behind every SAKAE product. Sakae is renowned for the finest craftsmanship and many years of experience in drum making both for Sakae and and also other brands as well. These new Made in Japan Snares are hand-crafted by our artisans in Sakae’s Lab-factory in Osaka, Japan.These Made in Japan Snares embody the culmination of the knowledge, scrutiny, and experimentation behind every SAKAE product.

Two new models, steel and brass, join the already available walnut and phosphor bronze models in the lineup.

These new Japan-made custom snares mark a new milestone in SAKAE’s pursuit of the best possible sound, quality and playability.

These new Japan-made custom snares mark a new milestone in SAKAE’s pursuit of the best sound, quality and playability.

BRASS SNARE DRUM

The new Sakae BRASS snare drums feature a shimmering sound characteristic of a brass body and a rich mid-low range sound. Snare wire made of 20 ultra high carbon steel is used. Its sharp attack and clear, powerful sound make it the perfect snare for rock bands.

These snare drums are available in 14” x 5.5”, 14” x 6.5” and 13” x 6.5” sizes.

All metal parts have been musically crafted, from the alloy composition to the wall thickness. The snare wire (snappy) is made of high carbon material. The special heat treatment makes it strong yet flexible, bringing out the material characteristics of the shell as much as possible. The metal shells are also beat-processed (concave) in two places, which serves to maintain the circular center from falling or bumping into each other and to cut excess overtones for a tighter sound.

Shell

Brass shell is a zinc alloy that is easy to process and transmits vibration well, and has been used for brass instruments since ancient times. The shell is finished with high-grade Black Nickel Prate.

SNARE WIRES

We use snare wire made of Ultra High Carbon with a special heat treatment. It contains more carbon than typical high carbon, resulting in increased strength and faster, sharper response.

HOOPS

The JAPAN CUSTOM SNARE uses SAKAE’s well-known Righty Halo. The hoop edge faces outward, producing all possible overtones in a straightforward manner.

DIECAST LUGS

The custom made lugs used in the Phosphor Bronze snare are specially designed to match the shell qualities for the best sound and performance.

STRAINER

Effortlessly adjust snare tension with the highly-accurate and easy to use Sakae strainer.

These Japan-made Custom Snares go well with any music genre and are ideal for recording.
